Surgery

Most pets must undergo some type of surgery during their lifetimes, whether it’s a routine spay or neuter procedure or something more complex and medically necessary. At East Lake Veterinary Hospital, we recognize that this can be a difficult time for you and your pet, filled with anxiety and uncertainty. We strive to create an atmosphere of calm and serenity within our hospital to make our patients feel at ease and to reduce the level of stress you both may be experiencing. We want you to know that when you bring your pet to us for surgery, they will be in excellent hands.

At East Lake Veterinary Hospital, our highly skilled doctors are experienced in performing a broad range of pet surgeries, from emergency laceration suturing, to broken bone repair to routine spays and neuters, all using the most up to date techniques and modern technology, and always adhering to the highest standards of care.. Our surgical team is trained to provide the safest surgical experience possible, regardless of whether it’s a simple procedure we’ve performed hundreds of times, or something less common and more complex.

Should surgery be recommended for your pet, we’ll begin by conducting a thorough pre-operative exam and screening to ensure that your companion is well enough to undergo surgery. At East Lake Veterinary Hospital, we never want to place our patients at risk, and we do everything within our power to reduce this risk at every turn. Once we get the go-ahead to proceed with surgery, we’ll get to work developing a pain management plan that is customized to your pet’s specific needs. Our goal is to keep them as comfortable and pain-free as possible while also providing for their wellbeing at all times.

During surgery, our doctors will work quickly and efficiently, while focusing on providing your pet with the best available surgical care. Our well trained, experienced and compassionate care team members will remain present throughout the procedure to assist with surgery and to carefully monitor your pet’s vital signs to ensure his or her utmost safety and comfort. We use modern monitoring equipment to check your companion’s heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen level, and employ only the safest anesthetic products on the market.

Once the procedure has been completed, we’ll continue to keep a close watch on your pet as he or she begins to come out of anesthesia. One of our team members will reach out to you, explain how everything went and arrange for you to retrieve your pet. Before bringing your pet home, we’ll take as much time as necessary to explain our post-operative care instructions and to answer any questions you may have about your pet’s surgery and recovery. We want to have your companion back on his or her feet again as quickly and painlessly as possible.

When it comes to veterinary surgery, you can trust the caring, knowledgeable team at East Lake Veterinary Hospital.
