Wellness & Senior Wellness

Instead of treating illness after it presents itself, what if we were proactive about preventing that illness from occurring in the first place? That’s the concept behind wellness care and it provides a solid foundation upon which your cherished pet can enjoy a long, healthy life. When we are able to thoroughly examine your pet on a regular basis, we are able to manage both their present health as well as identify and address any changes as they occur. Early detection of disease can vastly improve your companion’s quality and length of life. East Lake Veterinary Hospital offers comprehensive wellness care to help improve the chances of each patient we serve enjoying many years of good health.

The wellness services at East Lake are designed to provide for the individualized needs of each patient. No two pets are created equal, and veterinary care is not one-size-fits-all. Our wellness services will meet your pet precisely where they happen to be at any given moment, whether it’s vaccinations and parasite prevention for your new puppy or kitten, an exam and diagnostic test to manage your adult cat or dog’s ongoing health, or specialized geriatric care to help your senior pet live a more comfortable life. The care we provide will adapt and evolve as your companion’s needs change, providing us with the ability to continuously offer the most customized and effective care throughout your pet’s lifetime.

Because companion animals age at a much faster rate than we do, it’s important that they receive a thorough checkup at least once a year. A typical wellness exam at East Lake includes an in-depth evaluation of your pet’s current health, including the eyes, ears, nose, mouth and skin, as well as a check of all of your pet’s major organ systems. Our doctors may also recommend a number of diagnostic tests to further evaluate your pet’s health. We’ll spend some time discussing your pet’s lifestyle and learning about their habits and behaviors. This helps us to determine what your companion’s risk factors are and to develop customized vaccination and parasite prevention plans to keep them healthy and safe.

Another important part of the wellness visits conducted at East Lake Veterinary Hospital is the time we spend talking with you. We believe that as your pet’s caring owner, you are their greatest advocate and, as such, you play an equally important role in your companion’s health care. We are always glad to answer any questions or address any concerns that you may have about your pet so that we can set your mind at ease and help arm you with all the education and tools necessary to keep your pet happy and healthy.

Finally, wellness visits provide us with the opportunity to really get to know you and your pet and to develop a lifelong bond. The better we know your companion and understand his or her unique needs, the better prepared we’ll be to deliver a lifetime of quality care.

Don’t wait until your pet becomes sick. Provide them with the gift of a healthy life through a commitment to wellness care.

Senior Wellness

As pets get older, their health care needs can change dramatically and in a short period of time. Senior wellness exams are incredibly important, because they provide us with the opportunity to closely monitor any of these changes and address them as soon as they occur. With senior wellness care, we are able to regularly screen for such serious medical conditions as diabetes, kidney disease, arthritis and glaucoma, all of which are more common among older animals. When we can diagnose these conditions early, we can greatly improve the outcome for your pet. If your dog or cat has reached his or her golden years, be sure you are providing them with the appropriate routine care necessary to extend and improve their quality of life.
